About Climate Resilience Service Program

The Climate Resilience Service Program (CRSP) or ClimateWorkx Mtaani initiative is an employment transition program for youth in Kenya aimed at fostering climate resilience and economic recovery by addressing critical needs across the roads and infrastructure, environmental, and housing and urban development sectors.

In response to the disruption in the macro-economic environment and its impact at the local level, this program seeks to leverage sustainable Extended Public Works Projects (EPWPs) to provide employment and daily wages to these vulnerable youth populations. By doing so, it not only enhances urban infrastructure and service delivery but also promotes sustainability and climate resilience in urban, rural, and peri-urban areas, contributing to the overall public good and economic revitalization.

Building on the foundations of previous Government programs that have focused on economic recovery opportunities for youth, this initiative will utilize labor-intensive approaches to create sustainable public goods while promoting economic recovery through stimulating the circulation of funds within various locales. The proposed CRSP utilizes principles of transitional employment to ensure that participating youth will pivot to their next ideal work opportunity or education opportunity. Through CRSP, they will access to income generation opportunities (whether through employment or entrepreneurship), suitable life and soft skills training, as well as preferential access to government programs.
